The club is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in its continued development, confirming a transition into the Essex Junior Alliance (EJA) through a working partnership with Dunmow Town FC.

This strategic move comes after several months of planning behind the scenes, as part of the club’s ongoing commitment to raising standards and enhancing the football experience for all players. The transition represents a significant step towards establishing the club as a leading destination for player development within Essex.

Through this partnership and league progression, players will gain access to one of the highest standards of football available outside of the professional academy system.

What This Means

The transition will apply to squads from U13 through to U18, with fixtures taking place on Sundays as part of the EJA league programme.

Players can look forward to:

  • Competing at a higher level of football
  • Playing at top-quality facilities
  • Accessing new competitions and opportunities not previously available

Official Club Statement

“As a club, we are always looking for ways to raise the standard and quality of football we provide for our players. This move into the Essex Junior Alliance, alongside our partnership with Dunmow Town FC, is a significant step forward in that journey.

We believe this transition will not only challenge and develop our players further, but also strengthen our pathway and overall club environment. It’s an exciting time for everyone connected with the club.”

Further details regarding the transition will be communicated in the coming weeks, ensuring that existing players and families are fully informed and supported throughout the process.

Albie joined us midway through last season and quickly made his mark within our team. U12s Coach Will Fordham shares:

At M.R.F.A. and FC Evolution, our mission is clear: to create a structured and effective pathway for young football players to transition from grassroots football to the elite level, including opportunities at professional clubs and academies. The recent ‘Select XI’ fixture was a shining example of our commitment to this goal, showcasing the incredible potential and progress of players from our Development Centres.

Nurturing Talent from Grassroots

Our Development Centres are the cornerstone of our pathway. They are designed to nurture talent from an early age, offering tailored training programs that prioritize individual growth, technical skill, and game intelligence. These sessions focus not only on developing players’ technical abilities but also on fostering a love for the game and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The ‘Select XI’ fixture exemplified this ethos, as a group of talented U10 players, representing all four of our mixed Development Centres, took to the field. These players were selected based on their performance, attitude, and progress throughout the season, highlighting the strength and depth of talent we are cultivating.

A Competitive and Exhilarating Fixture

In this special match, the U10 Select XI faced off against our sister club FC Evolution’s U9 team, creating an exciting and competitive atmosphere. This wasn’t just any game—it was a chance for our players to step into an academy-like environment, applying the skills they’ve developed in training to a real-world scenario.

The fixture served as an invaluable learning experience. Players were challenged to perform under pressure, adapt to new roles on the pitch, and maintain focus in a high-intensity game. It was more than just a match—it was a development milestone, preparing them for the demands of higher-level football.

Insights from the Pitch

Tom Johnson, our Foundation Phase Lead Coach, reflected on the match:

“It was a really enjoyable fixture that provided some of our Development Centre players with an opportunity to showcase the improvements made throughout the season. The group represented each of our four centres excellently, playing some excellent football at times while being challenged by playing in a variety of roles and positions on the pitch.”

Tom’s comments highlight an essential aspect of our program: versatility. By encouraging players to take on different roles and positions, we foster adaptability and a deeper understanding of the game. This approach ensures our players aren’t just skilled in one area but develop as well-rounded athletes ready to tackle any challenge.

A Testament to the Development Pathway

The success of the ‘Select XI’ fixture is a testament to the structured pathway we’ve established. Our players demonstrated impressive technical ability, tactical awareness, and resilience—qualities that are critical for success at the next level.

This fixture is one of many opportunities we provide to help our players grow. From regular Development Centre sessions to matches like this, every aspect of our program is designed to prepare young players for the future, whether that’s progressing within our club or taking the leap to academy football.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly proud of the progress our players have made and the dedication they continue to show. The ‘Select XI’ fixture is a glimpse into what lies ahead, not only for the players involved but for the many young athletes across our Development Centres striving to reach their potential.

As we look to the future, we remain committed to our mission of nurturing talent, providing opportunities, and supporting the growth of every player who joins the M.R.F.A. and FC Evolution family.
